BECOME A BIG SISTER A BIG BROTHER

The Big Brothers or Big Sisters mentoring program offers boys, girls, young men and young women a model with whom they can exchange and share their life experiences. The mentor and the mentee build a relationship of trust by doing regular activities together chosen according to their common interests. This relationship, based on trust, is supported by our experienced social workers.

MENTOR A YOUNG ADULT

Big buddies is a program designed specifically to support young people as they enter the adult world. By creating these new types of pairings, a responsible adult will have the opportunity to be present to meet the different needs that their young mentor may present. Supervised by a worker, this relationship will allow the young person to fulfill himself and achieve his ambitions.

BECOME A GREAT COUPLE

BBBSO’s Couples Mentoring Program pairs a volunteer mentor (Big Brothers and/or Big Sisters) with a youth who share common interests. The program accepts young people aged 6 to 17, mainly from single-parent families. The volunteer mentors thus become involved in the life of the young person for at least one year and will then serve as a positive model in the latter’s life by helping him to reach his full potential.

BECOME A MENTOR FOR A DAY!

In this one-time activity program, young people have the chance to do enriching activities in the company of counselors and mentors. These activities are largely aimed at allowing them to have new experiences, but also to strengthen their ties, not only with their respective mentors, but also with their peers.

BECOME A SENIOR MENTOR!

This program aims to integrate retired people into the workshops of Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Outaouais. Autonomous seniors are invited to participate in the various programs and mentor our young people while sharing their knowledge. We also offer workshops in retirement homes where users are visited by groups of children through occasional craft activities (knitting, singing, jewelry making, cake decorations, etc.)

Go girls!

Go girls! is a group mentoring program for girls aged 12 to 14, centered around physical activity, healthy eating and self-esteem. The most important goal of this program is to positively shape the lives of young girls by helping them build a positive image of themselves, in order to help them reach their full potential.

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT

YOUTH EMPOWERMENT is a program that engages young people in green entrepreneurship through jewelry design, woodworking, cooking and more. The program has 4 components:

Elegance Collection: Jewelry creation and transformation from recycled jewelry.

Builders of Dreams: Cabinetmaking, creation and transformation from recycled wood.

eKoNueva: Transformation of recycled clothes

Prend ton envol: Workshop led by the facilitators and guests who come to present their profession to young people.

Bite into Friendship: These workshops invite matches, community youth and families to cook various meals and share recipes.

GAME ON!

GAME ON! is a group mentoring program that provides boys and young men with information and support to enable them to make good decisions in their daily lives. Through non-traditional physical activities and healthy snacks, participants are engaged in discussions about life skills, communication and emotional health, created to motivate them to make a long-term commitment to following a lifestyle. healthier life.

Kangou Jumps

“Kangoo-Jumps!” A healthy mind in a healthy body! is a project that is part of the group programs “Go les filles” and “À vos marques”. These programs are mainly offered to young people between the ages of 10 and 18. Each workshop addresses topics related to physical activity, healthy eating habits and mental health. Sharing opinions, practicing spontaneous choices and making decisions on a small scale allows each participant to develop their social skills.
