We make a difference in youth’s lives

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Outaouais (BBBSO) is affiliated with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Canada (BBBSC). The organization is therefore governed by the national standards established by BBBSC.

Since 1903 to date, the national organization, has been involved in the lives of more than 40,000 children and youths in more than 1,100 communities throughout the country.

In 2016, the organization introduced, “Jeunesse Envol”, a program that encourage creativity and entrepreneurship among young people while instilling in them the values ​​of ecology. This innovative program involved  three projects, created for and by the youths: “The Elegance Collection”, “The Dream Builders” and “eKoNueva”.

In parallel with the above programs, the organization offers several group programs such as: “Go Girls” and “On Your Mark” (focused on a healthier lifestyle), “Between Generations” (which promotes involvement seniors), collective kitchen groups, and a creative reading program called “Reading and Growing”.

Since 1983

Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Outaouais is a non-profit organization that offers, since 1983, high quality mentoring programs to young people in the Outaouais. These allow them to rely on a positive model to improve their self-esteem, develop healthy lifestyle habits and persevere them from school dropfool.

Through all the programs it offers, GFGSO serves an average of 500 young people each year in the Outaouais and a hundred families. In doing so, he continually fights against several social problems such as: isolation, dropping out of school, lack of self-esteem and juvenile delinquency.

VISION

Give the opportunity to all the young people in the Outaouais who need it to have a meaningful presence in their lives thanks to the values ​​of mentoring.

MISSION

Offer mentoring programs to Outaouais youth and help families in need, to reduce certain social problems (juvenile delinquency, violence, bullying, solar dropout and lack of self-esteem among youth).
